PSA From the Worst Mommy EVER!

Just in time for the back-to-school season...a very important personal service announcement.

There are no easy to read warning signs on pencil sharpeners.

That's right. It doesn't say in toddler legible writing that you should, in fact, not try to wear on your index finger (or any other finger or thumb type appendage) the delightful shade of "toddler-enticing red (c)" dual pencil sharpener.

Thankfully it wasn't electric.

Peanut didn't even feel it when she spun it round her finger...it wasn't until she had finished sharpening her tiny little index finger that the pain set in, and right after that her mauled finger began oozing blood the color of "toddler-terrifying" red.

So HOW did she get hold of said sharp item that most intelligent, caring parents would have put up out of the just turned (yesterday) two year old's reach?

That's the easy part. This horrible, no good mother left it sitting on the couch with all of the other partially unpacked bags of school type supplies for Mr. Miracle that we purchased late this afternoon. This lazy mother not only left the dangerous supplies including, among other things, a pencil sharpener, stapler (with staples), and thumb tacks, laying out in a pile well within toddler accessible reach, she then ran around trying to organize the soon-to-be schooling area of the house in order to have a place to put said supplies. However, this deadbeat mother then got distracted and sat at her computer to take a short break.

In all fairness, even though he blamed me entirely for it (at first), NeverExMarine was in the room and had to look right past the large pile of supplies (and Peanut sharpening her finger) to play the game he was busy playing.

So...in closure...keep those dangerous, toddler-ific, brightly colored, torture devices school supplies out of reach. Save them for torturing teaching your "school age" children.
