Broken...
So yesterday was a FUN day here, how about for you??
Sister, M.D. had wanted us to come visit her at our moms this weekend, and so I asked her if she would watch Mr. Miracle while we went grocery shopping. He's got a nasty cold and doesn't feel well. I mentioned that if he seemed to be doing okay, to please get his glasses adjusted as they kept sliding down his nose.
They took him to the store to get the glasses adjusted. He was carried to the door as he was tired and asked to be carried. They set him down once they got inside the main entry and he started walking with Sister, M.D. toward the optometry area. He was walking and being soooo good...
All of a sudden he slipped. Sister, M.D. dove for him and caught him somewhat. He stood up afterward, but just looked at Sister, M.D. kinda funny and she picked him up to check him over. He said he was fine and wanted to get his glasses fixed (she had promised him a small toy if he was good). A woman came over and insisted he had hit his head, she'd heard the crack of it on the floor...
Mr. Miracle insisted his head was fine. Sister, M.D. was still carrying him and shifted him in her arms and he whimpered. He started complaining that his ankle hurt a little...
They decided to leave instead of getting his glasses fixed, but filled out an accident report. He took some medicine for his cold and fell asleep in the car while waiting for my mom, who was getting her hair cut. Mom came out and asked him how he was doing (since the initial standing up he had tried to stand but whimpered)...he said he was fine and he was "much better" but could he please go home to his mommy and daddy?
Mom lifted the leg of his pants to check his leg and she said it looked a tiny bit swollen. They called me and I said it was probably best to get him checked out at Children's Urgent Care.
I at least made ONE good decision...they were sure he would be fine with a little ice, maybe a light sprain, he just wasn't showing pain for anything serious.
WELL....The doctor says he has an amazing pain tolerance as his leg is broken - two ways. His tibia (the shin bone) is broken across and then up the bone toward his knee.
He has a blue cast from his foot to his upper thigh. His leg is bent so that he isn't tempted to put weight on it. He is completely non-weight bearing and being carried everywhere. He might get a script for a wheelchair after he sees the ortho at the Children's Hospital.
I still need to figure out how to get him to school once he's up to it...not to mention that Peanut's appointment is coming up for her 6 months well baby and Synagis...oh and I have my very favorite yearly visit too! That's just over the next week and a half...it just gets better after that! Though in all honesty after we have a wheelchair maybe not so bad, though our house is not wheelchair accessible...
It's going to be a fun 12 weeks here...
